Let God be God

Where do you find peace in a chaotic world? Who is steering, and paddling your boat? How do you see God? Is he angry, rejecting, loving, caring, kind? Do you see him at all?

OMG paddling

When I am weak, I am strong. I am the tallest when I am on my knees.

This weekend I went on a beautiful retreat and spent some time redefining my heavenly Fathers image. Because of my distorted way, I thought I had to earn my way to God; if I was good and worthy I could get His attention. Nah..

Often the lack of parental qualities we experienced growing up as children are projected into our interpersonal relationships and also these traits define our God image.

We were spending time in charming scenery on a lake and I climbed a tree, which I can't remember when was the last time I did.

From up that tree, I watched a couple in a boat smoothly cruising on the water. The man was sitting in the front holding the paddles the woman was sitting in the back watching the waves hurdle on the water, sometimes she went onto her phone. No hustle, one direction and peace were their themes.

What God has revealed to me was a lot.

Number one, how the heck I am going to climb down from this tree? Why did I get here? But if I am already here what God wants to teach me?

The man in the front represented a lot more I could puritanly imagine; he was the holy trinity, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, my husband, leadership, a life attitude, and manly qualities I missed out on, as well as the perfect marriage dynamic, and Gods guidance in my life.

Do I let him lead my boat? Where do I resist a lot and take control?

I needed to see the harmony in the boat on the water, the paddling show, with the women sitting in the back letting be lead, unbothered by his leadership trusting they will survive and frankly, I am certain she enjoyed not paddling at all but sometimes pulling on her strength and share the paddling exercise. I know the man enjoyed taking the lead too and he seemed to have everything under control with an occasional smile.

And it was perfect the way it was, and I am happy to report, that I managed to climb down in one piece from the tree, Glory to God!

Now, why I bring this up is not because I experienced this kind of harmony in my boat for a long time at all, but rather the opposite.

You can say we live in an evil, twisted World, but I just wanted to give you this image to show, how I believe if God can get the steering in your life, he will do it gladly and he will not rock your boat, he will be gentle and take you to where you need to be in peace.

I say this as an encouragement for your weekend and next week to have a smooth sail! Maybe nothing is going in one direction, or maybe you have arguments and waves, Imagine you are not alone in your boat, but a powerful source, the creator of the universe is paddling for you with you all day every day.

Until next time stay Blessed and pray and contemplate on Love

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Corinthians 13:4
